“I provide mental health therapy for adults who are in life transitions, difficult seasons, struggling with a non-substance-based addiction, or suffering the effects of abuse or trauma.”
Hi, I’m Nate. I am fully licensed to provide in-person and virtual therapy in Kansas and Missouri. I hold a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University, meaning my therapeutic formation included a special emphasis on the way all things are connected, not just how I work with relationships. I started Nate Allen Therapy in Kansas City after working two years at Resolve Counseling in Prairie Village with a wide variety of clients.
I first entered the recovery process as a busy touring musician in an attempt to stop being a workaholic, only to discover I was far more broken than I could have imagined. This led to several years of tear-filled inner work and life transformation. I can now say that healing and growth are my passion. I love seeing my past struggles transformed into tools to facilitate change in others and empower people to take steps toward freedom and health. I would love to help you on your healing journey.
My specialties include Life Transitions, working through Emotional and Relational Blocks, Non-Substance Addiction Recovery, EMDR (with a Somatic Focus), Men Needing a Safe Place, Artists or Creative Types, Abuse, and Trauma.
My favorite therapeutic modalities are Narrative, Experiential, Internal Family Systems, Art Therapy, and Play Therapy.
I have additional training or certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR (Level 1), Gottman (Level 1), Prepare/Enrich, Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT Trained), Somatic Work, and Coaching.
